The Strait of Georgia is part of a great inland sea stretching from Puget Sound to Johnstone Strait. This area is referred to as the “Salish Sea”, in recognition of the Coast Salish people who historically inhabited its shores and still live here.

Watershed Sentinel

Throughout history, all organized groups have endeavoured to protect their home watersheds, or territories. Sentinel were stationed throughout the highlands of the watershed to herald the coming of friends or the approach of threats. Threats to our watersheds exist to this day, whether they come from careless individuals, compromising governments, or insensitive corporations. The Watershed Sentinel keeps watch and informs.

Thanks to the dedicated work of the board, staff, and volunteers the Wilderness Committee has grown to a membership of 26,000 with an additional support base of 30,000 donors-- the largest grassroots, membership-based wilderness preservation group in Canada with offices in three provinces and an on-the-ground presence in many Canadian communities.
