Alive in Baghdad  Popular

Alive in Baghdad is a weekly video blog. Our limited staff is able to post a video every Monday morning, so if you’re looking for more material please look through our archive. Alive in Baghdad was formed to counter the sound-bite driven, “Live From” news model. Through the work of a team of Americans and Iraqi correspondents on the ground, Alive in Baghdad shows the occupation through the voices of Iraqis. Alive in Baghdad brings testimonies from individual Iraqis, footage of daily life in Iraq, and short news segments from Iraq to you.

Briarpatch  Popular

Since 1973, Briarpatch has been serving up regular doses of news, analysis, and opinions on a wide variety of important issues. Believing that a truly free press is essential to the construction of a truly democratic society, Briarpatch provides a thoughtful, principled, and irreverent alternative to the false consensus of the corporate media. As Maude Barlow says, we're "one of the few voices that will still challenge the corporate agenda and present workable alternatives."

Canadian Dimension  Popular

Canadian Dimension is published 6 times per year, including 2 double issues. We are a magazine which shows there is an alternative to the corporate agenda and the dictates of the global market; that the dream of a better society is still alive. It provides a forum for debate, where red meets green, feminists take on socialists, socialists take on social democrats, whites hear from aboriginals, activists report from all corners of Canada, trade unionists report from the front lines, campaigns make connections, and the latest books, films, websites, CDs, and videos are radically reviewed.

Dooney's Cafe  Popular

www.dooneyscafe.com is a state of mind rooted in several things: a community centred around a café on Toronto’s Bloor Street, a dissatisfaction with conventional news gathering, analysis and dissemination. dooneyscafe.com offers open space to a limited number of writers who dislike the current supervisors of culture and the types and degrees of supervision. dooneyscafe.com has no editorial policy other than that implicit in the selection of writers who are offered free access and a belief that conventional media isn't offering much insight into our collective or individual conditions.

electric politics  Popular

Conventional political analysis relies on archaic notions of ‘predominance of gravity’ – in other words, in politics the side with the most stuff wins. Electric Politics ® is the modern hypothesis that political ideas carry charges which interact in predictable patterns. ‘Electric’ differentials better explain political outcomes and the structure of the political landscape. What people think matters much more than is generally understood.
This is my idiosyncratic political commentary site that includes social commentary, religious commentary, arts commentary, and whatever else I find interesting. Also news links and occasional original reporting. The EP podcast format is mainly — though not exclusively — informal conversations with interesting people, without any fixed time limits. Think of it as a miniature, alternative (improved) NPR.
